5 Australian Beaches to Visit in 2020
It is no surprise that Australia has the prettiest (and BEST) beaches in the world, but which ones come out on top? To answer this, I have put together a list of my picks for the best beaches around the Land Down Under that you need to visit.
In no particular order, I've chosen…
1. Whitsunday Islands, QLD
Between Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef you'll find the Whitsundays, one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations for tourists consisting of 74 islands. The islands typically contain rainforest and amazing white sandy beaches.
Airlie Beach is the hub on the mainland and is the gateway to most of the islands. For the kids, “Reefworld” is a permanently moored pontoon on one of its most beautiful stretches, Hardy Reef, and an ideal spot for fun and safe family snorkelling excursions.
There are so many beautiful spots in the Whitsundays that are simply perfect for a family getaway or for some parents time out!
2. Cable Beach, WA
Located in Broome, WA, Cable Beach is well worth the visit! The beach stretches for over 20 kms and has an endless amount of beauty and space to unwind.
The Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa is the only resort style accommodation in Broome and is perfectly suited to families, offering lots of fun activities for the kids including a designated family pool, water playground, mini golf and activity centre.
The Day Spa here is world class and ideal for some "me" time.
3. Byron Bay, NSW
Byron Bay is a popular holiday destination, known for its beaches, surfing and scuba diving sites. Cape Byron State Conservation Park is on a headland with a lighthouse. Kids can learn to surf, kayak with the dolphins, visit Crystal Castle, do the Lighthouse walk and much more.

4. Wineglass Bay, TAS
An impressive part of Tasmania, Wineglass Bay is the poster child for tourist material in promotional ads for Tassie. With its pink granite peaks and gorgeous turquoise water, Wineglass is a must-see if you’re ever in the South!
You'll need to take a long hike (approx 90 mins) to the beach from the car park, but it's totally worth the trek! Best to see this one without little ones.
5. Rainbow Bay Beach, QLD
Located just 5 minutes from Coolangatta Airport, this is my favourite spot in Australia. You'll see from my Insta-stories that I regularly visit Rainbow Bay/Coolangatta for family getaways. Not only is it a great family beach and has great surrounds, but it is also very popular with surfers, hosting the annual Quicksilver Pro surfing competition.
The beach is patrolled and has views across to Surfers Paradise.
Amongst its pristine waters, you’re able to see pods of dolphins and humpback whales from the shore! Oh and there are shark nets so you can relax whilst swimming here.
