Travelling to Bali Today- Everything You Need to Know

Travelling to Bali Today- Everything You Need to Know

As of March 8th 2022, hotel quarantine is no longer required for fully vaccinated foreign travellers arriving into Bali.

There are still a few requirements for all international arrivals landing in Bali and I highly recommend that you have all of your documents printed out (International Vaccination Certificate, hotel booking, PCR test result, travel insurance certificate)...your docs will be thoroughly checked so its easier than having to find them all on your phone.

What is a CHSE hotel?

A CHSE hotel or villa is one that meets the ‘Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability’ protocols in Indonesia, which includes wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing your hands with soap regularly.

Do I need PCR tests once in Bali?

Upon arrival into Bali, all international travellers will receive a PCR test at Ngurah Rai International airport. The price of a PCR test is IDR 275,000. (Some hotels have packages where the cost of this test is included).

You need to wait in your hotel room until they get the result. We are not aware how long this will take, but depending on your time of arrival it can happen same day, or next morning. If the test is negative you can freely enjoy Bali, but you cannot travel onwards to another hotel, particularly not leave Bali and go to Lombok or Java.

A second PCR test is required on your third day in Bali. Therefore, a booking at a CHSE Hotel is required so that the results of these two PCR tests can be properly monitored. If the second test is negative, you can check out the next day and then go to other hotels or other islands.

What about children?

Children above 12 years of age need to be fully vaccinated. Below 12 years of age (including infants) need to have a negative PCR tests like the adults upon arrival, and the accompanying adult must be a family member.

Can I leave my room in a CHSE hotel?

Once you receive your first negative result, you are free to explore Bali as normal. You are confined to your room or even your hotel during the three-night stay after you’ve received that first negative result. After your second negative result on Day 3, you are then free to leave your CHSE hotel and stay elsewhere in Indonesia.

Who is eligible?

The new ‘no quarantine’ rules are for international arrivals into Bali, Batam and Bintan only. If you land in Jakarta internationally, you will still need to quarantine as normal. For travellers with just one vaccination, the normal quarantine remains at 6 nights at a specified CHSE hotel and a full quarantine package is required. Fully vaccinated Bali residents (those with KTP and/or SKTT) also do not need a CHSE hotel booking and are free to return home to conduct the 2x PCR tests at their residence.

What else do I need to prepare prior to arrival in Bali?

  • All international arrivals into Bali must have a valid visa
  • All international arrivals must also show a negative PCR result from 2×24 hours prior to departure.
  • All international tourists must show proof of travel insurance with minimum USD$25,000 Covid Coverage.
  • All international arrivals must download the PeduliLindungi app and complete the e-HAC form which includes section on CHSE hotel bookings.
